More memories 2

Cad driving ability was not limited to motor bikes. I remember one night a crowd of us went for a drink in North Finchley. When we came out of the pub there was about 6 inches of snow. We all piled into Cad's Ford Transit van and headed back home. On the way we took at short cut through Partingdale Lane off of Frith Lane which was very twisty with a steep hill at the end which we all thought there was no chance of getting up it. Cad thought differently though and floored it sending the van from side to side with us all being thrown all over the place until we got to the top and carried on.

On one trip to the Isle of Man, Cad, I and two others were watching from the outside of the circuit and could not get back to our hotel until the last rider had finished and the course car cleared the circuit and opened the road. This normally took about an hour so we decided to cross the circuit before the racing had finished. We waited until we could not hear any bikes coming and then ran to the other side of the road where we were met by a marshall who went absolutely ballistic at us. He demanded our names and addresses and I was first in line. I gave him a false name and equally false address in Liverpool in my London accent and he accepted it. Cad was up next and I will never forget the look on his face as he tried to think up a name and address, no amount of Mensa could help him here but he managed to blurt out an equally false name and address. When we got back to out hotel Cad said he was completely thrown by me doing that and we had a good laugh about it. I can't remember the names of the two friends we were with.
