Happy Memories part 3

Another unconventional aspect of Cad was when he was on the starting grid for a race. Everybody except Cad stood beside the bike, pushed it for a few paces and then jumped on it side saddle hoping it would start. This was not for Cad though, he sat astride the bike and due to his powerfull legs paddled the bike forward a few feet bounced on the saddle and was away before the rest. There was always one certainty with this and that was that Cad would be leading on the first lap.

Cad was always someone who would help out a friend. If your bike was broken and you could get it to his house he would, providing he had gas in the bottle, weld up anything to get you going again.

I remember Cad as someone who was liked by everyone who knew him and I consider it a privilege to have known him and will never forget him.

If you still have contact with Honda Dick please tell him I remember coming back down the M1 in his Borgward (Bogie) Isabella at about 100 mph no more than six inches behind the car in front and flashing his lights to get him out of the way.

RIP Cad.
